RegEdit

First of all many greeting to the readers, today we will talk about RegEdit (stands for Registry Editing). Windows based O.S. stores it's configuration in a database and they calls it RegEdit. Many programs running in windows constantly modifies those settings and the user can also make changes in those configuration according to his/her will and needs. The changing these settings changes... the looks and behaviour of windows.
However editing those settings and configurations may mess up your computer system so before starting we need to make a back up copy of original configuration on a safe side if we unknowingly makes a mistake. In this tutorial I will be teaching you the safest way to hack registry settings but still there is no harm in keg the back up, so let's start with How to back up?

How to back up Registry:

We have two ways to make a back up of registry, we will discuss over those two ways in this part and will move further on hacking in next part of the articles.

The first way is to use Windows System Restore:

This way will teach you about system restore point. Now the point is What is system restore point?
In simple words I must say that it's a facility of windows due to which the system takes some snapshots and records of the task on system during any changes so that if anything goes wrong we can again come back to the old safe condition. These snapshots are called system restore point.

Now let's see how to create system restore point:

Go to Programs>Accessories>system tools>system restore

Now a box will open, set the button on create a system restore point and then click on next. As the next screen will be opened you need to enter a name for the point, suppose we name it my restore point.
The second way of backing up the registry is using a utility app named Erunt.
You can download it from internet and go for any youtube tutorial for the use of it, right now I am concentrating on regedit so it would be messy to write one more tutorial for the use of any application.

Now moving further we will continue with the use of regedit to hack windows according to our will and needs.
So let's start.... for the newbies let me tell how to launch the registry:
Press windows key along with R key or go to start>run. Now type "regedit" (without quotes) and press enter.
You will soon see a box opened that's what we call registry.

You will see a help option in regedit on the left top, you will fing many details and tips on regedit which can't be covered in this or any part of this article here or somewhere else.
After reading all the parts of this article you must throw a good look at the help option for the betterment of your skills.
The navigation pane on the left side consists 5 hike keys which starts with HKEY, to navigate to inner setting you need to click on the + sign to enter any hike key. As soon as you click on the + sign it opens a new branch containing the sub keys and the + sign change to a - sign.
You can search for any application in your computer by browsing through these hike keys and you can see the ful path to any application on the bottom of the registry box. Right clicking on any key will open some more options like delete, rename, new, find etc.

New: it will create a new key under the key which is selected.
Delete: as the name suggest, it deletes the program from computer.

Importing data in registry:
You can export a key to save all the sub keys in it, when you export any key it needs to be saved with .reg extension. A REG file is nothing but a plain text file whiich can be opened with any text viewer application such as notepad or wordpad.

You can create a .reg file by typing the text in notepad and by saving it with .reg extension. Once you have the REG file, all you need to do is either double left click on it or select merge after making a right click. Now you are asked for the confirmation, as soon as you click on yes you will get a dialogue box saying that your file is entered in registry.

Notes:
- Always remember that the changes you have made in registry doesn't acts at the time, you need to wait little and restart your system for the reflection of changes.

- We have some free tools available which can help in editing the registry even without entering RegEdit.
